Special Needs Deal (well sorta lol)

Tattoos With a Purpose
I don't know if I've mentioned this a lot on this site, but my son has special needs. He can't talk and he is almost 4. We recently found out (in the autism panel) that Ryan has an extremely rare condition. He is also very hyperactive and is obviously going to be a future track star!

Anyhoo, I am thinking ahead for the summer, and my biggest fear is being separated from him in a large place, like 6 Flags, the Zoo (where he always runs away), the pool/water park, and especially at the grocery store! He can't even pronounce his own first name correctly even though he tries, bless his HEART! I have put notes in his backpack with my name and phone number, and I have even taped his name and phone number to the back of his shirt (on masking tape) which is a very inexpensive way of doing it if you want to. It's just not practical for the pool. Unfortunately I can't always keep up with him--like last summer when I busted my knee. Remember how much weight I lost probably trying to keep up with him?! I used to put him in one of those plush animal backpack leash things which would never work out now. I got so many gastly stares from people when we used that thing but it was the only thing that would keep him from getting creamed by a car or a bus because he has no concept of safety!

I just joined a group on Facebook, and they were talking about a few options for nametags for non-speaking kids and I thought I would blog about some of those case you need something for yourselves.

Tattoos With A Purpose from One Step Ahead (there are some promo codes here I haven't tried.)
These tattoos are great for those of us with non-speaking/Autism kids or those with peanut allergies, etc.!

Mommy I'm Here Child Locator with Alert
Child Locator Alarm (I might have to get this for when we are just at Kroger HA!)

Someone else mentioned that sellers make inexpensive nametags on ebay so I might be checking that out. My mom used to iron on my name info on my clothes when I went away to camp, but that would be a pain to do on all of Ryan's clothes. Still might be a good idea to iron something into the back of his shirt that he wears out?! Hmmmm. Sounds like a lot of work though HA.

If you have any suggestions or experiences with this, feel free to leave a comment! :)
