Store Brand VS Name Brand - which is the better deal?!

According to a segment on the Sat AM edition of the Today show (3/5/11), purchasing store brand goods over name brand will save a family of 7 FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS in one year. (They also said $5,000 so I think their reporting was a little off.) They had a family secretly swap out name brand for store brand (filled up the name brand boxes with the store brand stuff) and fooled a family for a week. At the end of the week after the family found out suddenly everything tasted funny to them. But the father didn't care after hearing that his family could save so much money buying store over brand.

I am here to say that maybe you can save a little if you don't use coupons, but if you PRINT YOUR COUPONS for name brand items and purchase them when they are on sale, I am certain that you will actually save a LOT more and be able to enjoy a name product than by just purchasing store brand items. I am living proof that you can save tons of money and still get the brand name items that you have come to love. That is what I try to showcase with this blog. You rarely see me with a shopping trip full of store brand items, do you?! LOL!
