My trip to Target today....

Target's computer system will not take a "get free refills with a holder coupon" because it says "coupon not for here" so instead of over riding their system and keying in the amount of the item, they come up with a different excuse why the coupon is no good each time!!! Yesterday's excuse was "1 pr purchase 1 pr purchase!!!" Today's excuse was, 'you already used a coupon on the holders, and you have to pay full price for the holders to use the free coupon for the refills.' Now that is a new one even for me. Suddenly you can only use 1 coupon pr 2 items! WOW! The manager even called the (expert) security guy over to say they don't take free refill coupons. The manager even tried to tell me that if she accepted them that they would be paying me cash, but she never even rung them in. Duh. I called corporate just for clarificaion because I would really like a more specific answer to what I can and cannot use and why sometimes they are okay and others they are not but I got India on the phone again. Maybe if they would just follow their coupon policy and take a coupon once in a while they wouldn't have to outsource! That's all I'm sayin. I'm just trying to stimulate the economy that's all.

I also have to reiterate my recent call to CVS' customer service after they wouldn't take my coupons on clearance diapers, and the person on the phone (here in the US) was extremely helpful and actually sided with me! Amazing!

I have sworn to the following creed: Never ever accept NO as an answer to what you beleive is right. The Target in Corpus Chtristi, TX was once a we don't want your coupons store and went to great lengths to prove that point. After about 4 calls to Corporate from the local store red phone, I am greated with a smile from everyone. I do not abuse their policy; ie, if the coupon says one item per transition, that is what I purchase, one item. Many share your anger and frustrations. When we take NO for an answer, the Targets of the world win. When you speak with someone in India, hang up and try again, or wait until later and keep calling until you get someone is the US who can really help you.

First let me say I have also experienced way too many Target stores in various parts of the country that make up their own rules. You are afraid to put aanything in your cart because you don't know what will happen when you get to the register.

But, I do have concerns about the double use of coupons sometimes (at any store) when one of the coupons is for a buy this get that. Say you have a manufacturer's coupon that says buy a warmer get a refill. Well if the store were asked to show inventory had been moved through the store they would have to show that both of those items had sold in order for that one coupon to be honored. In other words, that one coupon attaches to both of those items. Those two items are now off the table. Now if you want to use say a $2 off a warmer manufacturer's coupon you need another warmer for that coupon to attach to.

You can run into this problem at Walgreen's as well because they are so item count conscious.

Now this is different if one of the coupons is a store coupon because that is their own sale, not something that will be reimbursed by the manufacturer for having moved a certain amount of product.
