Free Museum Admission for Active Duty Military & Families thru September 5th 2011!!

To show their appreciation for active-duty military personnel & their families, the Blue Star Museums program will waive the admission fee at more than 1,300 museums in the U.S., American Samoa, + Puerto Rico through September 5, 2011. The list of participating museums includes children’s museums, fine art museums, history and science museums, and nature centers. This freebie applies to active-duty military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), National Guard and Reserve members and up to five immediate family members. You’ll need to show a Geneva Conventions CAC ID or a DD Form 1173 or 1173-1 ID card, including those stamped URW and DB, at the museum admission desk to get in free. Spouses of those deployed may bring the DD Form 1173 or 1173-1 ID card to take advantage of the program. Children under the age of 10 without a military ID must be accompanied by an appropriate ID holder.
